Autrèche (Indre-et-Loire)

Eglise Saint-Martin* d'Autrèche

Eglise du 11e. siècle, construction en tuffeau et calcaire.


L'église Saint-Martin est remarquable pour son petit appareillage de pierres qui permet de dater sa construction aux 10e et 11e s.

Elle présente également des contreforts semi-circulaires similaires à ceux des donjons construits à la même période (Loches).

Le portail de style roman est du 12e siècle. La voussure (le pourtour) est ornée d'un motif diamanté.


  • Le monastère de Saint-Martin de Tours joua un rôle important en architecture à partir de la reconstruction de son église en 904, qui suscita des imitations à Perrusson, Autrèche, Chanceaux-sur-Choisille, Cravant-les-Coteaux, St-Mexme de Chinon, etc...
