(Photo number 2388) Bert Hinkler flew this tiny aircraft from Sydney to his home town of Bundaberg, Queensland, in 1921 and celebrated at the time as "the most meritorious flight on record". He covered the 1100km distance in 8 hours 40 minutes. The rudder of the aircraft bears the monogram of Mr J.J. Smith, who generously donated it to the Queensland Museum in 1970.
