Description

c/n 1530. Built 1957 for SAAF service. One of the last three Shackletons in service, all of which retired in 1984. It was initially used as a spares source for ‘1716 / J’ which remained airworthy, but was sadly lost in 1994 when it crash-landed in the Western-Sahara desert. ‘1721’ remains on display at the South African Air Force Museum, Swartkop Airfield, Pertoria, South Africa.
