Description
English: This drawing was found on page 43. The original caption for the drawing was "Gladiatorial Sacrifice". The paragraph that describes the drawing was also on page 43. That paragraph said that an alternative method of human sacrifice was chaining a victim by one foot and having him fight a "succession of champions". It said that if he "vanquished" all of them, he would be freed. If he was defeated, it said that he would, "of course", pay with his life.
