David Monies exhibited his painting of this scene at Charlottenborg, Copenhagen in 1835 (no. 55), while still a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Art. kunstbib.dk. Emil Bærentzen went into business as a lihographer in 1837 and this work appears to have been made before 1840, as it was included (as the last, no. 1975) in Krohn's list of satirical works dated between 1740 and 1840. kb.dk.
