Summary edit

Description
English: The Dakota Queen was a B-24 Liberator, which saw action in World War II. It was flown by future U.S. Senator and Democratic Party presidential nominee George McGovern, who flew 35 missions over Nazi-occupied Europe from an airbase in Italy. The B-24 was put into service because the Army Air Corps needed a bomber with greater range, higher ceiling, and faster speed than the B-17 Flying Fortress. This nose art is assigned to the B-1 piloted by the 28th Bomb Wing commander. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Kimberly Moore Limrick)
