Description

Morayshire - formerly Elginshire - is the County midway between Inverness and Aberdeen, and part of it (the Burgh of Grantown on Spey, and the Parish of Cromdale) became part of Highland Region, and thus Northern Constabulary when Local Government boundaries were revised in the 1970's.

The County had its own Police Force until 1930 when it merged with Nairnshire Constabulary, and in 1948 Moray & Nairn Constabulary was merged into Scottish North Eastern Counties Constabulary.

This cap badge would have been worn at some time between 1901 and 1930 (when the force title changed from Elginshire to Morayshire I have as yet been unable to establish)
