| Description |
English: I had a chance to visit the Minnesota Transportation Museum located at the historic Jackson Street Roundhouse in St. Paul yesterday. Oddly enough, despite my love of trains, I had never taken the time to visit this place before. I wasn't disappointed. They had a very eclectic mix of locomotives and rolling stock including stuff from the age of steam all the way to the more modern stuff.
This photo is of a diesel electric locomotive. It is an EMD SD9 built in 1959 in LaGrange, IL. It was given to the museum from BNSF in 2003. It was recently repainted in the "Cascade Green" paint scheme and is now used as the motive power for the Osceola & St. Croix Valley Railway during the summer and fall. Although it is hard to tell from this vantage point, it is sitting on the turntable for the roundhouse. I believe they were preparing to move it into the roundhouse to make sure it was ready to go for the season. For more info on this locomotive, go here |
