Description
English: Graph of the official exchange rate of key foreign currencies vs. the Belarusian Ruble (BYR) 1.1.2008-5.7.2011 (previous version till 28.5.2011). US dollar (USD), euro (EUR) and Russian ruble (RUB) are the three most important foreign currencies used in the Belarusian economy. The exchange rate shown is that available from the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (http://www.nbrb.by/engl/statistics/Rates/RatesDaily.asp). Note the strong devalvation in May 2011. The official exchange rates decided for 28.5.2011: 7 026.62 BYR/EUR, 4 932.00 BYR/USD and 175.41 BYR/RUB. Note also: that in practice the devalvation did not solve the trust to BYR. There is still shortage of foreign currencies; thus the "street price" was still much higher than official rate: around 8000-10000 BYR/EUR (26.-27.5.2011).
