These 'B' Boards were used in dial offices like Panel to complete calls that originated from manual offices generally in another exchage where the 'A' Operator would take the call and number. Select an idle trunk to the Panel office and give the 'B' Operator in the Panel office the number which she would key in and the Panel machine would handle the call from there.

There were two distinct versions of 'B' Boards. One that handled calls originated from a manual office and a 'B' Board that handled calls originated from a Panel office.
