Summary

Description
English: Copy of a ferrotype of Mandan chief Bad Gun (Charging Eagle). Bad Gun was Mandan chief Four Bears’ son, born around 1829. Military surgeon Dr. Washington Matthews had the ferrotype of Bad Gun taken in 1872, 40 years after George Catlin had painted his father. The ferrotype is taken so the pose of the head of Bad Gun is almost like the pose of his father in a painting by Catlin.
