Baishatun Mazu pilgrimage

Summary

edit
Description
English: The Baisha Tun Mazu Pilgrimage is a folk religious ritual passed down from generation to generation among the believers of the Gongtian Temple in Baisha Tun, Tongxiao Township, Miaoli County, Taiwan. It involves a round-trip hike of approximately 300-400 kilometers each year. The photo shows the scene of pilgrims crawl beneath the palanquin, as they believe that doing so can dispel disasters, resolve difficulties, and ensure safety.
