English: Balance This sculpture has photographic possibilities. Some busybody wrote into the local newspaper to complaint that it was a waste of taxpayer's money. I reproduce part of the reply from the chairman of the district council
"In response to the comments of "Bewildered" (letters 19 July) relating to the newly installed bronze sculpture, "Balance", erected recently in the centre of Omagh, I would like to reassure him or her that, while Omagh District Council delivered the project including commissioning and installing the sculpture, none of the funding for it came from the ratepayers of the Omagh District. It was paid for from European funding sources and from the Department for Social Development." |
