Summary edit

Description
English: Seven-week-old Golden Yorkshire Terrier puppies, females, in a playful courtship with dominance and submission gestures and various appeasement signals shown by both. The weaker bitch lies submissively on her back. The stronger one could now bite her on the throat. However, the submission is a signal of appeasement. The attacker responds by turning her head to the side, which is also an appeasement signal. The top bitch sends the signal from a superior position and shows her play partner that she does not want to engage in a damaging fight. The fact that the calming signals are already shown in early puppyhood suggests that this is a genetically predisposed instinctive behaviour.
