editDescriptionBalkumari Devi Temple Balkumari Lalitpur Nepal Rajesh Dhungana (3).jpg |
English: Deaf part of the prestigious Balkumari Devi temple located east of Ward No. 8 in Lalitpur district. Regarding the origin of these goddesses, according to Devmala Panshavali, earlier there was no temple in this place, only Ugrapeeth temple. King Ashoka Malla served these goddesses and with the help of the goddess he fought with the Thakuri king and conquered Lalitpur. This temple was built from 622 to 641 BCE. Later, when everything was demolished, in 817, Ishwaridas rebuilt the roof with three roofs. Again, Goresaheb, the son of Jung Bahadur, restored it. Since the 1990 earthquake has destroyed everything, Shri 3 Juddhashamsher has done it much better than before.
The temple has four entrances and eight tigers guarding the goddess at the rate of four entrances each. There are also idols of various deities on the walls around the temple. This is probably the first temple in Nepal to have idols of so many gods and goddesses. |
