DescriptionBall Houses of s'Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.jpg |
English: People always want to express their creativity and make things that are different from the standard. Can anything be more creative than these ball houses, seen in s'Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch for short) in Netherlands. These were built by a Dutch architect - a project named Bolwoningen (literally meaning “ball houses”) in 1984.
They look like a bunch of golf balls. They were built directly on the lawn, in a neighborhood that’s more of a park – with no streets to connect the houses. Even the cars are parked outside. These futuristic ball shaped houses look like an alien settlement in a science fiction film more than a 21st Century reality; but that is the case! People still live in these houses and one cannot trespass into their houses, which are only private houses. If you look inside these houses (thanks to Google Search and our Dutch friend from Den Bosch) you can see that they are suited for single people or just couples, as space inside is tight (55 square meters; 592 square feet), with 3 levels that include storage and central heating installations, apart from a spiral staircase which leads to a bedroom, a tiny living room and kitchen, toilet and a shower. |
