Description
English: Balquhidder Old Kirk Balquhidder Old Kirk dates from 1631 when it was built by David Murray, Lord Scone. It remained in use until 1855. Perhaps the famous incumbent of this charge was the Rev. Robert Kirk, who was based here from 1664 to 1685. He maintained a fervent belief in fairies, and wrote a manuscript entitled "The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns and Fairies" after an encounter with fairies on Doon Hill.
