English: Claude Philip Bamberger (1920–2008) was a German-American entrepreneur of the US plastics industry and an author who was originating from Lichtenfels, Upper Franconia, Bavaria, German Reich despite the fact that he was born nearby in Bamberg. As a 17 year old in Januar 1938 he emigrated via Le Havre in Normandy, France to NYC. On instigation of his grand-aunt his birth name Klaus Philipp Bamberger after his arrival was changed to Claude Philip. The picture was taken in October 1968 on Pangkor Island, Malaysia.
Deutsch: Claude Philip Bamberger (1920–2008) war ein deutsch-amerikanischer Unternehmer der US-Kunststoffindustrie und Autor. Er wurde in Bamberg geboren und wuchs von 1920 bis 1937 im oberfränkischen Lichtenfels auf, wo er mit seiner Familie in der Kronacher Straße 21 (NS-Zeit: Adolf-Hitler-Str. 21) wohnte. Als 17-Jähriger emigrierte er im Januar 1938 über Le Havre in der Normandie nach New York City, wo er seinen Geburtsnamen Klaus Philipp auf Betreiben seiner amerikanischen Großtante auf Claude Philip änderte. Das Porträtfoto entstand im Oktober 1968 auf Pangkor Island in Malaysia. |
