Bank of Restriction Flashnote by George Cruickshank (1819)

Summary edit

Description Cartoon parody of a Bank of England banknote by George Cruikshank in the name of the "Bank of Restriction". The note, decorated with skulls, gallows, and the hangman's noose, protests against the severity of anti-forgery laws in Britain at the time. Forgery remained a capital crime until 1832.
