User comments | You show a picture titled Louise de Keroualle. This picture is in the Auckland Museum and has been wrongly identified. It is most certainly NOT the Duchess of Portsmouth as can be seen clearly from the many other portraits of Louise. I believe it is certainly by Gascard but shows the young Barbara Fitzroy on the occasion of her coming of age at the Convent of the Blue Nuns in Paris. She would be about 16 in the portrait. There are other portraits of Barbara which show a close resemblance and she was painted at least three times by Gascard as a younger girl. |
