Description

Barta River

Bārta (in Latvian), also named Bartuva (in Lithuanian) and Bartów (in Polish), is a river in western Lithuania and Latvia. It originates in the Plungė district, 3 km to north of Lake Plateliai. The Bārta flows in a northwesterly direction, passing through the Skuodas district and the city of Skuodas, before entering Latvia. The Bārta flows into Liepāja lake, which is connected with the Baltic Sea. In its upper courses the valley formed by the Bārta is deep and narrow, while in its lower courses it is much wider.

Длина — 103 км (56 км в Литве, 47 км в Латвии), площадь бассейна — 2016 км² (980 км² и 1036 км² в Литве и Латвии соответственно). Истоки реки расположены в Плунгеском районе Литвы в 3 км к северу от озера Плателяй, далее протекает преимущественно в северо-западном направлении, пересекает границу с Латвией, где впадает в Лиепайское озеро
