Description
English: The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu.

Architectural style ..Romanesque revival architecture. It's a pilgrimage destination in honour of the blessed Virgin of ta’ Pinu. The mosaics were created under the artist Fr Marco Rup IL . Rupnik, and they stand for the rosary the 20 mysteries of the rosary. Two notable pilgrims took place..... May 1990 Saint John paul11 visited the Basilica and decorated the image of our lady with five golden stars. Pope Benedict XV1 visited on April 2010 presented the golden rose to OurLlady of ta’ Pinu.

No document are available on the year it was built ...though since 1545 there was a chapel. the Rose window is a beautiful piece of stained glass made in Germany ...and it's was restored once again in 2013.

Feast of Our Lady of Ta' Pinu is celebrated in June.

The National Shrine is found on the sister island of Gozo at Gharb.
