Summary edit
Battery J-4 Cabo Silleiro. When the Spanish Civil war exploded, the national decree installed in Cape Silleiro, in Bayona (Galicia, Spain), a base of artillery of coast that there was equipped initially, for what I could have quarrelled, with two naval British cannons Vickers of 101,6mm. I have not found information on the date of installation of the current cannons, but they are four Vickers 152,4/50 Model 1923, constructed in Spain by the Spanish Society of Naval Construction in Reinosa (Cantabria). The military base, named officially "Battery J-4 Cabo Silleiro", stopped being used at the end of the decade of 1980 and the cannons were sealed and rendered useless. While deleting the security zone of the military facilities on July 22, 1998, the Defense Ministry still retains ownership of the land, although both the barracks and underground tunnels are abandoned and destroyed by vandalism. |
