English: A rock in the Beacon Valley is wired with acoustic emission monitors to listen for cracking as it gradually breaks down over time. The project, led by Jennifer Lamp, is to study how rocks weather and erode in the hyper-arid conditions of the McMurdo Dry Valleys.
