Description
Deutsch: Becherlhof, Kumpf Gasse Nr.9. Ursprünglich bildete das Haus einen Teil des weiträumigen Ramhofs (1,Kumpfgasse 11). Mit dem Becherlhof ist eine Sage verknüpft: Der deutsche Ordensritter Hans v.Cobenzl war 1576 kaiserlicher Gesandter am Hof Iwans des Schrecklichen zu Moskau. Bei einem Gastmahl, bei welchen dem Zaren von Verschwörern Gift in seinem goldenen Becher geträufelt worden war, verhinderte Cobenzl das Attentat, worauf ihn Iwan unter anderem den kostbaren Becher schenkte, den die späteren Freiherren und Grafen Cobenzl in ihr Wappen nahmen. Hans, 1581 nach Wien zurückgekehrt, habe das Haus erworben, es umgestaltet und "Zum Becher" beschildert. Urkundlich läßt sich hingegen nachweisen, daß der Becherlhof seinen Namen auf Ursula, die Witwe des Bäckers Johann Adam Spiegel, zurückleitet, die in 2.Ehe den Namen Becherl führte; Ursula hinterließ das Haus 1731 ihren Kindern.
