Summary
editDescriptionBee-Eater from Yarrell History of British Birds 1843.jpg |
English: "The Bee-Eater" from A History of British Birds by William Yarrell, 1843. Inaccurate depiction of legs and feet, should be much shorter and with syndactyl toes |
Date | |
Source | own scan of A History of British Birds, 1843 |
Author | William Yarrell (author); Alexander Fussell (drawing); John Thompson (engraving) |
Drawn and engraved by John Thompson (signed "J.T. del. et sc." at lower right). This is an exception for the book; Alexander Fussell drew nearly all the illustrations directly on to the wood blocks which Thompson then engraved.
