Description

Bee Fly, a species of Meomyia, possibly Meomyia sericans. Mount Jerusalem National Park, Koonyum Range, NSW, Australia, January 2015.

This fly was close to other almost similar-looking bee flies, but wasn't doing the vibrating-her-bum-on-the-ground activity that the others were doing. Also this fly has stopped moving its wings when stationary, unlike the bum-vibrating ones, whose wings continued. Perhaps this is a male, and the bum wigglers are females?
