Description
English: Hall of Mental Cultivation. Forbidden City, Beijing

In this building, located just west of the inner court, the Qing emperors would receive their ministers and conduct affairs of state. Later in the dynasty, empress dowager Ci Xi ruled here while concealed behind a curtain.
