Description India has a long tradition of pluralism. Different schools of thoughts have coexisted here with harmony engaging in constructive arguments. It is this pluralism in India that gives base to the Secularism in India. Many intellectuals, e.g. Shashi Tharoor, have considered pluralism as a defining aspect of Indianness (read this).
