Description

Belbuan (gnr. 12 bnr. 1) tilhørte opprinnelig Bakke kloster antagelig helt fra middelalderen av; i 1645 er gården nevnt som klosterets eiendom med leilendingen Laurits Belbuan. En gang før 1701 ble gården solgt til Jochum Manziin som også eide Ekren gård. Borgermester Hans Hagerup overtok begge gårdene i 1722. Hagerup var interessert i misjonering blant samene, og derfor fikk samemisjonæren Thomas von Westen (1682 - 1727) fri bolig på Belbuan fra 1725. I 1775 ble Ekren gård skilt fra bruket, og i 1777 ble Falkenborg fraskilt. I 1790 ble gården embetsgård for sognepresten og stiftsprosten ved Domkirken. 1863 - 1880 hadde kapellanen ved Domkirken bosted ved Belbuan. 1880 ble gården solgt til Louise Finne som delte gården i parsellen Louiselyst i 1881, mens den resterende del ble solgt til P. O. Jenssen. Fylkesgartner Jon Hjelde kjøpte Belbuan i 1926 og anla en planteskole ved gården.

Bygningene, som daterte helt tilbake til 1700-tallet, ble revet i 1993 for å gi plass til en ennå ikke gjennomført utvidelse av Nidars fabrikkanlegg.
