English: Belfast taxis Belfast taxis on Donegall Square North.
Belfast black taxis first appeared in the 1970s when Irish republicans brought over old London cabs and set up business, mainly to provide work for ex-prisoners released from jail. Loyalist groups, seeing a good business model, soon followed suit. Nowadays everything is heavily regulated.
