Summary edit

Description

Otherwise known as Hyacinthus romanus.

Bellevalia is a genus of 45 species of bulbous perennials, from scrub and maquis in Southern Europe and Asia. This species is native to the Mediterranean regions, from Southern France to Greece.

They are grown for their racemes of flowers, resembling the Grape Hyacinths (Muscari) but usually with constricted mouths. The flowers are borne in spring, and are mostly white, lilac, or violet shades. They are fully hardy to frost hardy, and prefer to be kept dry in the summer. Generally they are pest and trouble free.
