| Description |
English: Since we were just over 150km away from Durgapur, we decided to do a whirlwind trip. We lived in Durgapur from 1961 to around 1971 before moving to Poona (Pune) in Western India. It was great to check out the town we lived in nearly 40 years ago. This was, and still is the main shopping street of Durgapur town. It's called Benachitty. Many of the old shops were still there, though the goods they sold had changed drastically. Here a cycle rickshaw pedals past us in Benachitty. (May 2009) |
