Notes
  • 1983 Charles E. Peterson Prize, Honorable Mention
  • Significance: This house is virtually unaltered since its construction in the early nineteenth century. Although now somewhat deteriorated, the exterior remains sound, and almost all of the interior woodwork is intact, some with original marbleizing. A prime example of Jeffersonian-Federal style, Mountain Grove is designed on an elaborate proportional scheme.
  • Unprocessed Field note material exists for this structure: FN-275
  • Survey number: HABS VA-1081
  • Building/structure dates: 18t1 Initial Construction
