English: A scan of a gelatin silver photograph (7.8 x 12.2 cm) of a painting of a three-masted full-rigged ship in full sail on the open ocean. Donated by Malcolm M. Brodie in 1946 to La Trobe Picture Collection, State Library of Victoria. Birrell, Stenhouse & Co of Dumbarton built Benlarig in 1887 for Watson Brothers of Glasgow. In 1908 an Italian bought her and had her converted into a barque. She was wrecked off Cape Horn on her first voyage for her new owner. |
