| Description |
English: Memorial Plaque for Abbot Anscar Vonier by Benno Elkan. The abbot is seen offering his life's work to the Virgin Mary, amidst scenes from his life. The shipwreck of the `Sirio', his early dream of rebuilding the Abbey, monks building at Buckfast, his work as a scholar, and finally the consecration of the Abbey Church in 1932. Shortly after the building was completed, Anscar died in December 1938. A skeleton representing death is tapping him at the shoulder. |
