Deutsch: Berchemer Fahr (Bergheimer Fähre) über die Sieg zwischen Bergheim (einem Ortsteil von Troisdorf) und Geislar (einem Ortsteil von Bonn-Beuel); die Gierfähre (von gieren – drehen im Sinne von sich günstig in die Strömung drehen) ist an einem Seil (dem Giertau oder Zaum) befestigt, das mit einer Rolle an einem quer über den Fluss gespannten Seil hängt (dem Scharseil, von scheren – spannen, ab- oder aufwinden) und an ihm entlang gleitet. Das Bild wurde vom linken Siegufer, der Beueler Seite, aufgenommen. Das Gierseil auf dem Foto ist neben dem stakenden Fährmann angebracht, es verläuft kettenlinienförmig nach rechts (teilweise im Wasser) und strebt dann nach oben zum Scharseil (außerhalb des Bildes). Auf dem rechten Ufer, der Geislarer Seite, liegt unter den Bäumen vor der Terrasse des Lokals die alte Fähre mit dem bezeichnenden Namen „Sieglinde“.
