Description
Deutsch: Geschäftshaus am Hausvogteiplatz 1 in Berlin-Mitte, erbaut 1928-1930 von den Architekten Walter Growald und Wilhelm Caspari. Das Gebäude ist eines der wenigen erhaltenen Beispiele der Vorkriegsmoderne in der Berliner Innenstadt. Die Fassade wird von großen Fensterflächen und der Verkleidung mit Travertinplatten bestimmt. Sohlbankgesimse zwischen den Stockwerken gliedern das Gebäude horizontal und schwächen dadurch die Wirkung der vertikalen Pfeilerkonstruktion. Es ist als Baudenkmal gelistet.
English: Commercial building at Hausvogteiplatz No. 1 in Berlin-Mitte, built 1928 to 1930 to a design by the architects Walter Growald and Wilhelm Caspari. This is one of only a few surviving examples of pre-WWII modern architecture in the inner city of Berlin. The facade is characterized by large windows and travertine cladding. Mouldings between the floors contribute to the horizontal structure of the facade, extentuating the effect of the vertical columns. The building has been designated as a historic landmark.
