Description
Deutsch: Ehemaliges technisches Gebäude der Reichsbank in der Oberwasserstraße 10 in Berlin-Mitte, hier gesehen von der Friedrichsgracht auf der Spreeinsel. Das Gebäude wurde schon 1924-1925 im Hinblick auf den geplanten Erweiterungsbau der Reichsbank (der zehn Jahre später errichtet wurde) erbaut; Architekt war Philipp Nitze. Es enthielt neben Werkstätten für hauseigene Handwerker auch ein Heizwerk, eine Stromversorgungsanlage und eine Vernichtungsanstalt für Banknoten. Das Gebäude gehört heute zum Komplex des Auswärtigen Amtes. Es steht unter Denkmalschutz.
English: The former technical building of the German Reichsbank at Oberwasserstraße 10 in Berlin-Mitte as seen from Friedrichsgracht on Spreeinsel. It was built as early as 1924-1925 with regard to the upcoming enlargement of the main Reichsbank building (constructed ten years later). The architect was Philipp Nitze. The building originally contained heat and power stations and a facility for the destruction of banknotes as well as workshops. The building now belongs the complex of Auswärtiges Amt (the German Foreign Office); it is landmarked.
