English: JSC2004-E-17555 --- This file photo shows NASA engineer Bernard Rosenbaum and world-renowned heart surgeon Michael DeBakey, M.D., who earned medals from the Space Technology Hall of Fame in 1999 for a heart pump developed from Space Shuttle fuel pump technology. Now called the MicroMed DeBakey VADTM (ventricular assist device), the tiny heart pump received FDA approval for use in critically ill children in early 2004. |
