Summary edit

Description Remains of the Soviet Tembr-2M PA tape recorder. The three-head, two-track Tembr-2M, built at the Petrovsky Plant in Gorky since 1977 and based on a very similar Tembr-2 (1971), was designed mostly for public address service. Some where used for industry automation, railroad announcements, some as 'tour guides' in museum; this one, most likely, served with the garrison PA network. The Tembrs were built quite robustly, to professional standards, but audio specifications were quite low even by home hi-fi standards (not to mention pro standards, not even close). That's despite the fact that they had two wide tracks, not four narrow tracks as in consumer models.
