Description

Besançon (Doubs) - Statue d'Adolphe Veil-Picard (par Alfred Boucher, 1924)

Composition due à Alfred Boucher, située promenade Granvelle. Elle est en marbre de Carrare ; le groupe allégorique surmonté de la statue de Veil- Picard a été sculpté dans la carrière à partir d’un bloc de 7 tonnes et posé sur un socle en granit rouge de Bretagne. La face avant représente la ville instruisant un enfant une face latérale représente deux vieillards sollicitant la Charité ; la seconde face latérale symbolise le commerce que V.P. développa ; à l’arrière un Triton verse l’eau d’une urne, rappelant que V.P. fit des dons pour financer la distribution de l’eau dans les quartiers.
