Summary
editDescriptionBeverley and Skidby Drain, Figham - geograph.org.uk - 759882.jpg |
English: Beverley & Skidby Drain, Figham, Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Looking north-northwest along the drain to the east of Figham Clough Bridge. Figham was one of three common pastures belonging to Beverley mentioned by Archbishop de Bovill in around 1255 although it evidently existed as such before then. Over the centuries the common's boundaries have been moved back and forth and different parts of it have been cultivated, used as a rifle range (1872 to 1894) and fenced off for the dumping of sludge from the sewerage works. |
