Description |
English: The music and lyrics for "Beware the Military" were written by Oliver George Wallace (1887-1963), at the time a theater organist. In 1932 he began working for Disney Studios where he composed many film scores, including "Dumbo," for which he and Frank Churchill won an Oscar. "Beware the Military" was co-written by Harold Taylor Weeks (1893-1967), a sheet music merchant, and published by The Melody Shop in Seattle. The song was performed by Evelyn Dale in conjunction with other war-themed music during showings of Cecil B. de Mille's "Til I Come Back to You," at the Coliseum Theatre from August 25-28, 1918. Printed on the back cover of the score are excerpts of three additional pieces for piano: "Hindustan," by Oliver Wallace and Harold Weeks; "We'll Wander Over Yonder," by Harold Weeks; and "Can't You Love Me Like You Do In My Dreams," by Harold Weeks.
