Summary edit

Description
English: Bexhill-on-Sea Whilst some ninety percent of the railway lines in Sussex and Kent are electrified, via the third rail system, one short stretch of line between Hastings and Ashford is not electrified.

The photograph shows two of the diesel multiple units used for the Brighton, via Eastbourne and Bexhill, service to Ashford. As most of the line to the east of Hastings is single track the timetable has to be designed to ensure that trains meet at specific points where there is double tracking.

A consequence is that both east and west services arrive at Bexhill at the same time.
