nts receivableamounted to $1,434,574.57. The current revenue surplus for the biennium amounted to$866,874.84. Of this surplus an amount of $483,663.60 was depositedin sinking funds created for the purpose of retiring the funded debtwhile the balance remains in deposit in the San Francisco HarborImprovement Fund, which fund in addition to financing the operatingexpenses of the port, is utilized as a depreciation fund for the replace-ment of worn out or obsolete structures. At the close of the present biennium, June 30, 1934, the totalfunded debt of the port amounted to $17,903,000, secured by physicalproperties with an appraised value of $83,635,952.53. At the end ofthis biennium, the various sinking funds contained cash and securitiesin the amount of $1,091,027.48, to be utilized for the retirement ofthe funded debt. Capital expenditures for the two years period totaled $1,061,-903.13, of which an amount of $711,412.99, was financed from harborrevenues and $350,490.14 from bond funds.

REPORT OF BOARD OF STATE HARBOR COMMISSIONERS 11 Major construction contracts commenced prior to July 1, 1932,and completed during this biennium, were as follows: Extension of Pier No. 44 from 797 feet to 967 feet in length; theconstruction of a depressed railroad track on the north side of thepier; the conversion of the depressed track on the south side to asurface track, and the construction of three cargo aprons. • Construction of an open wharf 862 feet long on the south side ofIslais Creek, east of and adjoining the grain terminal; constructionof an additional elevator building and bins at the Islais Creek GrainTerminal, for the handling of bulk grain; and the paving of JeffersonStreet from Powell to Leavenworth.
