Bilecik Orhan Gazi Cami

Summary edit

Description
English: Bilecik Orhan Gazi Cami is near the Sheikh Edebali tomb and tekke, on some pictures one can see that complex behind the mosque, a bit higher on its own hilltop. One viewer of my pictures informed me that the local name is "kurşunlu cami" because it has many (lead) bullets after the Greek invasion in 1921. I do not know if this is correcxt, many mosques have that name because the roof is lead-covered. Another viewer informed me, that the two minarets one sees today are later additions to the mosque (that itself seems to date from the late 14th century). Its original minaret would be the one a bit distant from the mosque, that one can see on some pictures. The name Orhan Gazi Cami is not unique, there is at least another in Bursa, hence the addition of the name of the town.
