Description
English: Public in Gadong Mall area were entertained by a Marching Band parade at Monday afternoon, 16 September 2019. The parade was performed by 75 Indonesian Navy Academy Cadets as part of activities held during goodwill visit of Indonesian Navy Vessel (Kapal Republik Indonesia/KRI) Bima Suci to Brunei Darussalam.

The parade started at Simpang 37 road from Gadong Market and stopped at front of the Rizqun Internasional Hotel. During the parade, the marching bands perform a number of Indonesian songs and choreographed movements. At the front of Rizqun Internasional Hotel, the parade took a moment of silence to honour the passing of late President of Indonesia, B.J. Habibie before continuing the performance.

Present to watch performance were First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Othman bin Hj Suhaili, the Commander of Royal Brunei Navy and Arko Hananto Budiadi, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia.

The KRI Bima Suci goodwill visit to Brunei Darussalam is part of a 9-country mission to spread the message of brotherhood and peace. The KRI Bima Suci carries a crew of 103 Naval Academy Cadets from the 2019 Kartika Jala Krida task force and 89 officers. The ship currently harbors at the Royal Naval Base of Muara. During its visit, the Navy Academy Cadets will also carry out sports interaction activities with Tentara Laut Raja Brunei, such as beach cleaning and volleyball and soccer games.

The KRI Bima Suci, a sailing barque, or a ship with at least three masts, is the largest training sail ship of the Indonesian Navy that can carry a crew of 230. It replaced KRI Dewaruci, which has been operating for 64 years since 1953.

Through this visit, it is expected that the already existing excellent ties between Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia will grow stronger, with better mutual understanding at the state and people levels.
