Description
English: Schematic bindstone as seen in thin section under the petrographic microscope.

Type of carbonaceous rock according to the depositional texture:

  • Autochthonous limestones - Original components bound during the deposition time.
  • The organisms bind a preexisting substrate. Rock is matrix-supported.

Legend:

  • Dotted background: micritic matrix.
  • Blue bands: bio-constructions (eg stromatolites).
