A Vila do Biribiri foi fundada em 1876, por Dom João Antônio dos Santos para abrigar uma
indústria têxtil. No auge de funcionamento a vila contava com 600 funcionários, geração de
energia elétrica própria, armazém, escola, barbearia, igreja, clube e restaurante. Foi desativada
em 1972.
A Estamparia S/A mantém a vila aberta à visitação pública e destina orçamento necessário para
sua conservação, contribuindo com mais um importanate ponto turístico de Minas Gerais.
